- The Public Safety Facilities Project utilizes approximately $37M investments in Community Safety & Emergency Response.
- Construction of a new 17,000 sf combined Fire Station Operations and Administration headquarters, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and training space.
- Construction of a new dedicated 911 Dispatch Center and other facility upgrades at Police Headquarters.
- Renovate and modernize Fire Station No. 2.
- Replace and improve outdated Public Safety technology, critical equipment, communication, and backup power systems.
- Support Public Safety Responders and provide healthy and modern work environments.
Fire Station No. 1 & Emergency Operations Center
- Replaces existing 6,000 sf 70+ year-old Fire Station with an approximately 17,000 sf Fire Station and Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
- The new two-story facility will house all administration and operational functions for the Fire Department, including enhanced safety features such as pull-through engine bays, decontamination areas, and security components.
- The EOC will provide a safe and functional workspace to manage short or long-term Citywide emergencies and support both a local and multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional response in the event of a major disaster or emergency.
Fire Station No. 2
- This project aims to bring Fire Station No. 2 up to the same safety, code compliance, and operational standards as Fire Station No. 1.
- This Fire Station will expand by approximately 850 sf to better support emergency response needs. Improvements include a full reconstruction of firefighter living quarters and modernization of the facility.
- The station will gain an additional bedroom, along with a new lobby and public restroom to improve community access.
- A dedicated decontamination room will be added to reduce exposure to hazardous materials and support firefighter health.
- New areas for turnout gear cleaning, equipment storage, and physical fitness will be created and separated from the engine bay to limit contact with diesel exhaust and other contaminants.
Police Station
- The Police Headquarters facility was originally built in 1960 and remodeled by the City in 1990 to support law enforcement operations. The building’s age underscores the need for upgrades to ensure it meets modern public safety standards.
- Renovations to the Police Station will enhance public safety by modernizing critical infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.
- Upgrades include roof rehabilitation, HVAC improvements, enhanced parking area security, refreshed interior finishes, and improved restroom and locker room facilities.
- Additional secured storage within the enclosed parking area will support safe handling and organization of police equipment and resources.
New 911 Dispatch Center
- This project also expands and upgrades Dispatch Operations to include a new detached 1,300 sf Dispatch Center to support improved emergency communication capabilities.
