Atascadero offers a number of parks and fields for various recreational uses. These parks provide excellent locations for the recreation and enjoyment of community members of all ages!

Rentals & Reservations

Many of the City's parks include spaces that can be reserved for individual or group gatherings and events. Information about rentable parks and park amenities is included in the individual park listings below. If you are interested in renting a City-owned park or facility, please call (805) 470-3360 to check on availability. Rentals require the completion of an Outdoor Facility Use Agreement which can be found under individual parks where rentals are available.

BBQ Reservations Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Pick a Date and Location
    Reservable BBQ locations:
    • Atascadero Lake Park
    • Colony Park
    • Paloma Creek Park
  2. Confirm Availability
    Call (805) 470-3360 to make reservations. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance. Dates are filled on a first come, first served basis.
  3. Submit an Outdoor Facility Use Agreement
    Complete an Outdoor Facility Use Agreement. (Thank you for taking the time to fill out the form completely!) Your completed agreement can be submitted in person at the Colony Park Community Center (5599 Traffic Way) or digitally by email to recreation@atascadero.org.
  4. Submit Payment
    Your payment can be made in person at the Colony Park Community Center or with a credit card over the phone by calling 805-470-3360. Once your payment has been received, you will be issued a permit to have with you on the day of your event.

    Paloma Creek Park BBQ - $68/day
    Colony Park BBQ Area - $93/day

    Electricity is available for $15/day

    *Please be advised, fees are subject to change and may vary depending on location and the type of event being held.

    Issues with a BBQ Area
    If you have an issue with your BBQ area please contact the non-emergency line for the Atascadero Police Dept. at (805) 461-5051, and they will route you to on-call Public Works staff.

Atascadero Lake Park

This park is the destination of residents and visitors year-round. Atascadero’s charm is accentuated by the beautiful lake.

Paloma Creek Park

Amenities at this location:

  • Two (2) Multi-purpose sports fields
  • Two (2) Lighted softball fields
  • Little league field
  • Sand volleyball court
  • Playground

Paloma Creek Park offers several fields and is home to many tournaments, year-round, as well as sports league games and practices.

Sunken Gardens

Inspired by “The Grand Basin” at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, Atascadero founder E.G. Lewis envisioned a formal Sunken Garden to adorn the civic center in his new colony. Restored in 2005 as originally designed with walkways crossing the length and width of the gardens and meeting at a central fountain designed by architect Walter D. Bliss of the San Francisco firm of Bliss and Faville.

Wrestling Bacchantes Sculpture

The "Wrestling Bacchantes were sculpted by Italian artist Petrilla and exhibited at the 1904 World’s Fair by the Italian Government. The sculpture is one solid piece of carrara marble and was purchased by Atascadero Founder E.G. Lewis for display in the Atascadero Colony Civic Center.
