Atascadero Winter Youth Basketball League

It's time for the Winter Youth Basketball League Season!

The City of Atascadero's Recreation Division is looking forward to getting the youth back on the court for some recreational youth basketball! Our program stresses the importance of individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes, and most of all, FUN! In a non-competitive setting, we offer a division for anyone in grades Kindergarten through 12th at any skill level.

Games will be held on Saturdays beginning on 1/11/2024, with practices taking place during the week, beginning the week of 12/2/2024.

T-Ball

For Ages: 4.5-6 years old

Tee Ball is open to boys and girls who are 4.5 to 6 years old (Child must be 4.5 years old on or before the first practice of the season). The league will focus on teaching the basics of baseball in a low-key and instructional atmosphere with a main goal of having fun! All practices and games will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Paloma Creek Park for the duration of the season.

Practices usually begin in late March. League games begin in mid-April and run through to the week before Memorial Day. A coach’s meeting will be scheduled the week prior to the start of practices at Paloma Creek Park. Time and date TBD.

Spring Youth Volleyball League

3rd-8th Grades (boys & girls)

The City of Atascadero’s Coed Jr. Volleyball League places emphasis on learning the fundamentals, expanding skills, player participation, teamwork and fun! Games and practices will be held on Monday evenings. Practice will begin in early March with league games beginning in April. Practices will take place for the first few weeks of the season, then transition into games only for the rest of the season. The league will end the Monday before Memorial Day weekend. Players will receive a team shirt and participation award.

Start Smart Sports

Start Smart Sports

The Start Smart Sports Development Program is a proven instructional program that prepares children (ages 3-5) for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Held once a week for 6 weeks, with the exercises becoming increasingly difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement. Sports reviewed will be, baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, and overall body movement.

Scholarships

Atascadero Recreation offers a number of seasonal youth sports activities including Basketball, T-Ball, Youth Volleyball, and Start Smart Sports programs. Scholarships for these activities are available to eligible applicants. Explore the links below for more information.
