At its January 14 meeting, the City of Atascadero City Council approved the 2024 annual Community Road Report. The report highlights recently improved neighborhood roads, drainage and roadside slopes and provides community members additional information on road projects planned for 2025. Neighborhood road improvements are funded by Measure F-14, a half-cent sales tax passed by voters in 2014 and have resurfaced or rehabilitated over 50 centerline miles of city-maintained streets.
In November 2024, the Atascadero Local Roads and Vital Services Funding Extension (Measure L-24) passed with 71% voter approval, which will continue the half-cent sales tax originally approved through F-14. Consistent with Measure F-14, Measure L-24 will generate approximately $3 million annually to address road repairs, aging infrastructure, and support vital local government services with citizen committee oversight. Revenue collection from Measure L-24 will begin in 2027, when Measure F-14 sunsets.
“Approving Measure L-24 allows the City to continue investing in neighborhood road improvements and infrastructure for the community. I am grateful to the voters for their support and trust in using these funds for our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Charles Bourbeau.
Community members should expect to receive mailed copies of the 2024 Community Road Report in February. Recently completed road projects encompass approximately 5 miles of improvements within multiple neighborhoods in the community. In 2025, road improvements will occur on Los Osos Rd., San Andres Ave., San Dimas Rd., Carmelita Rd., Colorado Ave., Lake View Dr., Monterey Rd., Navajoa Ave., San Andres Ave., and Serra Ave.
