The Central Coast Zoo Proudly Presents Holiday Magic! Saturday, December 20th, 10-1 pm

The Central Coast Zoo is pleased to announce Holiday Magic on Saturday, December 20th, from 10 am until 1 pm! The zookeepers will present gifts for the animals and Santa will be on-site to welcome our visitors! Our scheduled gift delivery for the animals begins at 10 am and goes until 1 pm! Over 70 tons of snow on the Central Coast is on its way! Winter Wonderland is back for another exciting snow driven event in Downtown Atascadero on Friday, December 12th from 5-9 pm. Office of Traffic Safety Awards $65,000 Grant to APD for Traffic Enforcement Program to Increase Safety on Roads!

The Atascadero Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. Atascadero Police Department Makes Additional Arrests in Gang-Related Assault Investigation

Detectives with the Atascadero Police Department have made several additional arrests connected to a gang-related assault and robbery that occurred earlier this year at the Centennial Bridge.  On August 30, 2025, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Atascadero Police Dispatch personnel observed a fight in progress on live surveillance cameras in the Centennial Bridge area. Power Pole Collapse on El Camino Real Causes Traffic Disruption

On Monday, October 27, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Atascadero Police Department responded to the 8300 block of El Camino Real after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting power lines down across the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a total of nine power poles had fallen, blocking nearly two blocks of El Camino Real. The San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council (SLO FSC), in partnership with the City of Atascadero, will begin a hazardous fuels reduction project along Atascadero Creek as part of ongoing wildfire mitigation efforts.
