The City offers a full range of benefits including vacation and sick leave which are accrued for days worked or on paid leave status, based upon the classification and years of service. There are eleven observed holidays per year; plus one floating holiday is accrued annually. The City offers a Sick Leave Incentive Plan for employees that use minimal sick leave.

The City offers medical, dental, vision and life insurance which may vary somewhat, based upon provisions negotiated by the various bargaining groups. Some employees have the option of participating in State Disability Insurance. 457 Deferred Compensation plans are also available.

Completed application forms may be emailed to jobs@atascadero.org.  Candidates who are selected for an interview will be require to submit an original and signed application form at the time of the interview. A resume of 3 pages or less may accompany the application form, but may not be submitted in place of the application.

The City of Atascadero’s Recruitment Policies are legally structured to ensure that recruitments and the selection process enable the City to employ well-qualified and highly competent individuals. The City’s selection process facilitates the hiring of the best qualified applicants to all authorized vacancies, consistent with State and Federal laws and the City’s Personnel System Rules.

Each person interested in applying for a position must complete and file an application for that recruitment no later than the final filing deadline as published in the announcement.

Applications for employment submitted to the City of Atascadero will not be accepted unless they are in response to an open, published/posted recruitment for a specific position.  The title of the open position for which the application is being submitted must be stated on the application form, or it may be rejected.
