COVID-19 Update:

At this time, the Atascadero City Hall is temporarily closed to the public to help maintain social distancing and reduce potential exposure to staff and the community. Although our main lobby remains closed, the City will continue to provide services to the community and we are actively working to develop new ways of providing these services while following CDC and Health Department guidelines.

Beginning March 25, 2020, the following procedure will be in place for Planning and Building submittals:

  • The City will accept new construction permit applications and plans for both new commercial and residential projects.
  • Permits for elective construction on occupied residences will be accepted at this time.  The inspectors will wear masks & comply with social distancing.
  • The City will accept plans via courier or other delivery service (FedEx, UPS, GSO, USPS, etc.). On a limited basis, and by appointment only, plans and applications can be submitted to front counter staff to drop off plans at City Hall.  Call (805) 461-5000 to schedule an appointment.
  • Please address the package to the appropriate department (Planning, Building, Public Works)
  • Small or over-the-counter type Building permits can be emailed to our staff at: permitcenter@atascadero.org
  • For Planning and building permit inquiries, please email: Permitcenter@Atascadero.org or call our staff at (805) 461-5000.
  • For Engineering/Public Works permit inquiries, please call: (805) 461-5000
  • Building Permits that are ready to issue will have all final docs e-mailed to the applicant for signature, permits and plans may be returned via delivery service or picked up with an appointment.
  • Payment for fees can be made via check mailed to our office or submitted at the front counter by appointment only.
  • City staff are available by email and phone by calling the main City hall line at (805) 461-5000.

We remain ready to assist and help prioritize business and housing projects moving forward in this changing environment. Feel free to reach out to us with questions regarding how we can help during this time.

**At this time City Hall and the Permit Counter staff are only available on an appointment basis. Please direct all questions to staff via email or phone call and we will respond as soon as possible as we have limited resources available at this time. Please note the following:

  • Walk in services are available for general inquiries, property information or planning/building questions by appointment only. These services are also available by phone or e-mail.
  • Questions regarding plan review comments should be directed to the reviewer at the contact listed in the left hand margin of the corrections document.
  • General questions can be sent to permitcenter@atascadero.org.
  • Permits available for e-submittal can still be accepted through the eTRAKiT portal and permitcenter@atascadero.org.
  • All other projects will still need to be handled through paper submittal with an appointment.
  • For appointments, please contact City Staff to schedule by phoning (805) 461-5000.

Due to staffing shortages, there may be some delays and inconvenience; we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
