The Technology Department is a division of the City Manager's Office. The Mission of the IT Department is to:

“Bring people and information together by utilizing new and current technologies to facilitate and enhance productivity and connections”

The team's primary goals are to increase productivity, improve communications, and enhance connectivity between the various departments in the City and the citizens of the City. This team has four specialized areas:

  • End User Support
  • Network Administration
  • Database Systems and Development
  • GIS

 

The technology team is driven by nine primary objectives. These are:

  1. Enhance Connectivity with the Citizenry and Other Stakeholders.
  2. Educate and Develop our Internal and External Customers.
  3. Implement Redundant Network Systems.
  4. Maintain Service Levels in an Environment of Rapid Network Growth.
  5. Evaluate New Technologies as they Become Available; Implement as Appropriate.
  6. Fund Technology Appropriately to Maintain Current (up-to-date) Systems.
  7. Create Partnerships with Other Agencies when it is Advantageous to do so.
  8. Develop Reliable and Easily Understood Backup Strategies.
  9. Provide Meaningful Professional Development Opportunities for Technology Staff to Gain Exposure to New Technologies and Build Professional Networks with other Agencies.

 

Some of our current projects include creating a virtualized network environment, introducing Mobile Data Computers for Police and Fire vehicles, enhancing remote connectivity for City employees, and creating enhanced GIS Services with SQL based GIS.
